Rick Strittmater Carbon Based Carbon Based is a set of eclectic compositions from Rick Strittmater. He uses his mixing board as a canvas and his combinations of electronics and acoustics as paint brushes. The resultant art is existential in nature. There are dozens of question, hundreds of clues and no answers. Rick’s intelligent sound design forces deep listeners to search their inner selves for the answers. The soundscapes are perfect vehicles for the journeys. This is a great CD from a relative newcomer. - Jim Brenholts Rick Strittmater Summer Bones Summer Bones is an ambient anthem by Rick Strittmater. He based it on "The Life and Times of Black Eddy and Pigboy Otis," an RCS film, presumably in the film noir style. This is a somber set with gray and black passages streaming and interlocking throughout the atmospheres and drones. These are special drones, too. Rick creates them from a variety of sources and loops and layers them into dramatic and climactic atmospheres. He strings the atmospheres together to create cinematic soundscapes. This is a thoroughly package, from the artwork to the music. Rick has crafted a complete gem. ~ -Jim Brenholts
