Elysium: Feedback (CD;46:58)
What? Sorry, you’ll have to speak up!! I’m just finishing a
review on the Polish Metal band Elysium – and my ears hurt.
But it’s a good hurt, y’know?
Elysium's Feedback is pure, crushing heavy metal –
with the emphasis on the heavy. From the opening crunch of
“World Hello Day” to the final notes of “Suicide Generation”,
this disc just pummels you with aggressive fury!
The vocals, by Maciej Miskiewicz, are from the screaming
growl school of Metal. In other words, without the lyric sheet
you cannot understand a single word. That’s OK, however –
the lyrics are included – if you can follow along!
The rest of the band is comprised of Michael Maryniak and
Michael Wllosik on guitars, Roman Felczynski on bass, and
Maciej Oryl on drums. This is one of the tightest rhythm
sections in all of Metaldom! And the guitarists – crunchy
rhythms and molten leads – just the way Metal should be! In
fact, some of the rhythm tracks even remind me of Carcass!
The music on this CD is excellent! The rhythm tracks are just
so tight, and of course, the solos just scream! The vocals –
well, you either love this style or you hate it. That’s your
choice – I’m just telling you how it is.

The songs:

5. Sinusoid Forward
6. Venus Project
7. Departure Fresco

Mark’s Picks:
There is not a bad song on this disc, but I have to highlight
“Aeolian Choreography”. You gotta love a metal song with a
modal scale in its name! These guys can play, and this song
highlights that. Venus Project also merits mention because of
its dueling leads and long, slightly disturbing fadeout. Nice
bass solo on “Suicide Generation”, too.
