Matthew J. Harris The Cure May Never Come www.matthewjharris.com The Cure May Never Come is the follow up to Blind Cinema. Matthew J. Harris took an idea from performance artists and designed a most unique and completely original soundscape. Many performance art works involve several CD players all set at continuous shuffle play. All of the individual tracks are designed to interact with each other in exact and finite ways. There are billions of possible combinations but the number is still finite. This CD has 99 tracks. The disc is designed to be played on continuous shuffle play. The pieces are designed to interact with each other in exact and finite ways. There are 99 to the 99th power possible combinations, including straight one through 99. That mode plays well also. Matt has readily admitted his fascination with dark ambience and minimalism. He has also owned his Brian Eno influence. (I've seen a list of his CD collection. He has more Eno CD's than Brian has released.) This is a melancholy soundscape. The textures and timbres are dirge-like. The atmospheres are vacuous. Silence is an important element of the flow. This is an essential CD. Its historical significance cannot be overstated. ~ Jim Brenholts, EER-MUSIC.com
