Oophoi: Celestial Geometries

Oophoi is Gianluigi Gasparetti. Tau Ceti is Enrico
Cosimi. Together they created Celestial Geometries, a deep space
atmospheric experience.

Minimalism of this sort - quiet, gentle, expansive and organic - must be
experienced with every fiber of one's being. Deep listeners must dive in
completely and holistically to immerse themselves in this soundworld. They
must become the soundscape.

That is a difficult task. It requires complete concentration and pinpoint
focus. The rewards are vast. The deep resonance of this soundscape will take
those focused listeners to any zone of the universe.

Oophoi: Night Currents

Night Currents is a long-form (over 60 minutes) composition from
Gianluigi Gasparetti, a.k.a. Oophoi. it is divided into five
subtitles or movements.

Gianluigi is one of the masters of soft - almost inaudible - minimalism. He is
able to go many ways with his sound design. This CDR is a visit to the dark
side of life. Using synths, samples and flutes, he builds wide-open
atmospheres and contemplative soundworlds. This soundscape is for looking at
some of the darker aspects of life.

Curiously, it is not an uncomfortable experience. This dark organic soundscape
has plenty of warmth and charm to contrast the dark passages. While those
qualities seem to be mutually exclusive, the concept works here.

This is one of the ultimate paradoxes - dark and cozy minimalism. thus, it is
an essential CD.

Oophoi: Static Soundscapes: Three Lights at the End of the World

Static Soundscapes: Three Lights at the End of the World is a deep
droning soundscape from one of the masters of the style - Oophoi, nee
Gianluigi Gasparetti.

These wide atmospheres are pure minimalism. Gianluigi augments his electronics
with samples, Tibetan singing bowls, droning vocals, a Lakota flute, ritual
cymbals and conch shells. This is outstanding meditation and relaxation
music. There are no sequences to get in the way and no orchestral passages.
The vast atmospheres evoke wonderment and hope. There are, assuredly, somber
moments but no dark passages.

Oophoi
Athlit
Hypnos Recordings
www.hypnos.com

Oophoi is Gianluigi Gasparetti (Gigi) . He is a master at using
silence as an instrument and as an important component of his sound design.
Athlit is his first Hypnos release and his first CD widely available in
the USA. Given the chance to display his awesome skills to a wider audience,
Gigi takes full advantage of the opportunity.

Deep drones carry the flow as Gigi surrounds them with cloudy atmospheres and
organic textures. While the soundscape is neither majestic nor energetic, it
is regal and dramatic. Gigi is inviting his listeners to rise to his level.
He does that by meeting them on their level and walking with them to the
deeper zones of his soundworld.

This is another great CD from Mike Griffin and Hypnos recordings.
It is essential electronic minimalism.

Oophoi and Klaus Wiese
Wouivre
Aurora

Wouivre is a set of very deep, very subtle minimalism from
Oophoi, nee Gianluigi Gasparetti (Gigi) and Klaus Wiese.
Gig is well-known for creating very quiet, somber music. Klaus is an expert
with bows and strings. (Klaus has also created some magnificent soundscapes
with Tibetan singing bowls. Oddly, Gigi performs on those on this disc.)
Both of these artists are expert sound designers. They have created deep and
dark atmospheres for this CD. This is not bright minimalism. This is as dark
as it gets.

And that is a good thing. It is easy to access this soundscape for many
purposes. The dark surroundings allow for examinations of the less acceptable
sides of the psyche. While there, listeners are invited to see the darker
regions of the self. Such visits are necessary for behavioral adjustments.
It is not a good idea to listen to this disc alone or in the dark. Operating a
motor vehicle or other heavy equipment is not recommended either.
