Quazi: The Cookies of Discontent; (CD, 53:23) Paredes Music, 2001 Cyberhome:http://talamasca.cc/quazi.html Smokin' tunes, I like, I like. Here's a free tip on a killer fusion and technical progmetal. I got this CD awhile back but I haven't stopped getting off for a sometimes a full day of repeat plays. WOW! Crank this up and go off- road for a mud-slingin' spin . . . not a limp-wristed second on this baby. Drums, axe, bass are all kickin'! Mean unisons, fierce attacks, flowing time changes, novel phrasings, Holdsworth meets Fripp meets Brad Hull of Forced Entry. Killer, killer, killer -- reminds me of the energy of Planet X's Universe release sans keys. No wimps allowed inside the QUAZI world. This kind of music makes my neck ache due to serious head-bobbing and groovin'. I may get a speeding ticket today. Why? I am gonna be listening to QUAZI again for another full-on adrenalin rush. You serious jams fusion types need this in your collection. The group for heavy, whirling, highly technical, angular, off-beat, whacked, fun-loving, hard-charging, tongue-in-cheek jazz metal fusion is QUAZI. Sometimes I was cracking up at the hilarious sound bytes and before I knew it, Quazi had wrenched my head into another sonic whirlpool. This trio kicks major frenetic axe, skins, and low-end butt! Superb! Highest recommendations, inside- out and including those quazi-temporal extensions into the 5th order of meta- fusion dimensions. ~ John W. Patterson, EER-MUSIC.comTracks: A Fitting Demise, Smells Like Nail Polish, Creepy Little Weirdo, Flowers Is Pretty, Fiesta ala Carte, March of the Orcs, Dark Method, Hypocrisy of the Open Minded Personnel info: Matthew Lee Belanger - drums, Jason Widen - Axe/axe-synths, Tony "the snake" Arbonzo - Bass, Various sources - many sound bytes and glossolalian, juxtapositoned, spoken-word moments
